I just had the wonderful opportunity to participate in #OceanHackWeek 2023 working on a project on Benthic Habitat Mapping. This project built on my existing work on integrating sediment dynamics into habitat mapping approaches utilising national seabed mapping data from the Irish seabed mapping program INFOMAR. Existing workflow was heavily dependent on ArcGIS so the goal of this project was to transfer the workflow to open source tools in QGIS/JuypterLab and making the data suitable for machine learning libraries in Python.
